Are my sessions confidential?

I am a registered member of the BACP, www.bacp.co.uk and work within their Ethical Framework to provide safe, professional boundaries.

Confidentiality is maintained and applied within our counselling sessions and to any records (in accordance with the Data Protection Act), except in the following instances: a) Where you give consent for the confidences to be broken, b) Where the counsellor is compelled in a Court of Law, c) Where information is of such gravity that confidentiality cannot be maintained i.e. Where there is a crime/where there is a case of serious physical harm to yourself or others.

I keep brief notes of each session. My notes are stored securely in keeping with General Data Protection Regulations

and I am registered with the Information Commissioners Office. www.ico.org.uk

Supervision: In accordance with BACP guidelines I undertake regular supervision of my practice and as such, may bring client work to be discussed. Any client is referred to anonymously and my supervisor is bound by the same ethics, regulations and confidentiality.

When working online, it is important to find a safe confidential space where you will feel comfortable talking.

What can I expect from the first session?

The first session is all about getting to know each other and your expectations

for counselling.  We may look at goals that you have and how we will work towards them or you may be unsure of what you need from counselling and that's ok, all approaches are at your own

pace.

How many sessions do I need?

Sessions are booked on a weekly basis arranged at your assessment. You are not obliged to undertake a certain

number; it all depends on you and how you feel the therapy is proceeding. It

can often take between 6 - 12 sessions to feel change or a real difference but it is entirely up to you to decide how many times you wish to come.

What are your fees?

My fees are £60 per each counselling

appointment. (50 minutes)

Cancellations payable at full price if made less that 24hrs before next appointment.

While solely working online, fees are payable through BACS.

You may, of course be unsure whether counselling is the right step for you. I offer a free 30 minute initial consultation as an introduction and to help find out what you might need.
